Lupine House was designed by Don Jacobs with coziness, not drama in mind. All on one level, the house has 2 bedrooms, each with a Queen size bed and 1.5 bathrooms. A sleeper sofa in the living room is an additional sleeping space. The kitchen, dining and living room are all one open concept with a long window seat being the focal point. A bit of ocean peeks through some trees, but the main view from the house is a wide meadow which, in the morning, is often populated by a herd of deer grazing.

The house is about a 4 minute walk to one of the few kid friendly sand beaches on The Sea Ranch! At twilight we are sometimes visited by a beautiful red fox or a big, burly raccoon. (Keep the deck door closed or the 'coon will come right in.) If it's clear at night, try star gazing from the hot tub. You've probably never seen so many stars and satellites. Or enjoy a cozy movie night streaming from the owner provided apps, Netflix and Hulu Live. Wifi is also provided throughout the house. Bed linens and towels are not provided, bring your own or rent them from Beach Rentals. Pets are not allowed in this home.

  Our stay was generally good. The one thing we were frustrated with was the Wi-fi. My partner is an IT professional and his assessment was that the wifi router really needs to be replaced as it was generations older than modern options.

  We had an amazing stay at this property. As you enter the house you are greeted with beautiful meadow and partial ocean views. We enjoyed morning coffee on the deck every morning and a sky full of stars from the hot tub at night. We took advantage of the many trails around Sea Ranch as well. Very quiet and private and a great place to relax and get away from it all!

  We rented Lupin in addition to three other houses to host extended family over the holidays. The house is warm, cozy and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen and wonderful views. All guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay and I would highly recommend it for this purpose. Please note that there is limited room for entertaining and the mattress in the smaller bedroom is very soft.

  Been coming up to SeaRanch since the late 80's and have stayed in many houses. This was one of our favorites. It's a good location, close to rec centers, close to town, close to bluffs. Nice hot tub. Good stargazing.

  On the positive side, Lupine is an easy walk to the Sea Ranch Ocean trail. It has a great picture window view of a meadow and some blue water in the distance. Beach Rental outfitted the house generously with essentials. The hot tub is well situated and easy to access. On the negative side, the house is tiny; there is no pantry. It's a one-and-a-half-person kitchen, at best. It has not been updated, I suspect, ever. Liquid dripped on our heads from the leaking transom over the toilet in the front bedroom. The beds were mushy and lumpy. To watch TV, we had to pivot the old and heavy hide-a-way bed couch ninety degrees. We rented this house at the last minute because there were not a lot of choices. The internet went out several times a day; it was pokey at best, challenging to work here. Bottom line, if you don't mind dingy, this home is for you. I recommend The Vue restaurant in Gualala for fresh California cuisine. I would not rent this home again.

    Thank you for your review of your stay at our Lupine house! We are pleased you enjoyed some of the aspects of this classic Sea Ranch home. While the kitchen is on the smaller side, the range, fan and microwave are new, and the dishwasher and kitchen sink faucet were also updated fairly recently. In addition, the TVs are mounted to the wall on arms that pivot and pull out for viewing convenience. The liquid dripping from the transom in the bathroom was most likely condensation build up from hot showers. Both mattresses have toppers on them which were purchased last year. We believe the size of the house is described truthfully in the listing. Beach Rentals

  We stay at Lupine every year — it has a great layout for a small family and is very close to a wonderful tidepooling beach and playground. Unfortunately it needs a refresh badly — the window seat, couch, and master bed are long past their lifespans. With some updates, we hope to keep staying here for years to come!
