  Dune Drift remains our favorite with a superb location. It is very close to the trails, yet private and peaceful. The house works very well for us and we feel good when we stay there.
  
  We still hope the kitchen range will be replaced. The heating elements sit at an angle, making food pool at one side of a pan. The heating elements also do not heat equally. The oven is a hit and miss. An inexpensive but working range would make a world of a difference.

  Dune Drift is simple and safe and serene. I love the window seats, the proximity to the bluff trail, the security of the backyard, the privacy from other homes and, especially, the open meadow where you get an up close look at deer, etc

  Returning to Dune Drift for an annual visit is a highlight of the year. The cottage is welcoming and relaxing, no matter what the weather is like. The views from the window seats are lovely - this year we watched a deer family who grazed and rested for most of the day. The very private hot tub is wonderful.
  The house is very clean, with a full kitchen, well equipped. The furnishings are comfortable and practical. I always enjoy looking at the owner's charming paintings. We generally prefer staying in and enjoying every moment of the tranquil atmosphere. We did eat out one night at the Sea Ranch Lodge Restaurant, which was very popular after re-opening last fall after renovation.
  The house is well situated near the Bluff Trail. Walking North provides access to Walk On Beach and breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs. Going South leads to the harbor seal viewing area and the nearby Shell Beach. A visit to the Sea Ranch Chapel is always very moving. This was a perfect long weekend, complete with the mix of sunshine and rainy weather so typical of the Sea Ranch area.

  Our rental on dune drift was exactly what we were hoping for! There were many windows to see the coastal view and to watch the deer walk by as they graze. It was close enough to Gualala for supplies and many walking & hiking trails from the house!

  We have stayed a couple of times at Dune Drift and plan to return. Dune Drift currently ranks at the top of our list of Sea Ranch rentals. It is not fancy, but the location and the homey feel make it work for us.
  
  Positives: A superb private location, stunning window seats, daily visits from wildlife, large fireplace, the place is clean, internet is fast if one needs it, the kitchen is well equipped and the dishwasher works well. The rental company is very good and personable.
  
  One needs to get used to the heaters. But they do work.
  
  Critical replacement: The kitchen range needs to be replaced. It sort of works but the elements are spirals that are badly tilted and cannot be leveled. Some also run hotter than others. It is really easy to burn the food. The oven temperature control seems to be random - sometimes it works, and sometimes everything gets scorched. A most basic cheap new range would eliminate all of these gripe. As an alternative, we are considering bringing our own portable burners.

  Very rustic, uncomfortable and the tub in master bathroom doesn’t drain. It really needs some serious work. Sorry for this negative review. But it really needs some work.

  Dune Drift has a wonderful location. The house was in good repair. The photos on the site are accurate. The home is older with the bathrooms and kitchen not being updated. The queen bed is VERY firm. We loved the privacy of the backyard. Enjoyed watching the deer, fox, and rabbits. Directions for the fireplace flume would be helpful.

  We had a lovely time in Sea Ranch as always. First time staying at the Dune Drift. A quaint cottage in a great location, with easy access to trails and beaches. Kitchen and baths need attention; otherwise it would have been a perfect stay!
